When I look around my house most of the electronic appliance is manufactured by Samsung. So I researched Samsung company origin, the company's success, and its business model. Samsung started as a small trading company that sold dried fish, noodles, and grocery items with a capital of 30,000. The company was founded by Lee Byung-Chul in 1938. Samsung means 3 stars in Korean; in the logo, you can see the open part in 'S' and 'G' it shows companies openness. Due to the Korean war, lee was forced out of the city and founded a sugar factory in partnership with Hyosung group founder Cho Hong-Jai. In 1951, they separated because of differences in management. We mostly assume Samsung as an electronic company, but its journey in the electronic market after 30 years(1969) of origin. They first stepped into the electronic market with black and white TV 19-inch. And also manufacturing home appliance parts for Sanyo company. In 1980 Samsung acquired hanguk jeonja, by which Samsung entered into the telecommunication industry, which will lead the company into the smartphone industry later. In the same year, the company started manufacturing air-conditioners. In 1982 Samsung expanded its manufacturing department in Portugal because of the low-cost workforce. After almost 50 years of the company's origin, the founder gave up the ghost and his place within the company taken by his son Kun- Hee Lee. Which also came with the 2nd foundation of the corporate. The corporate moves forward toward modernization. In 1995, the company recall around 1.5 lakh devices because of some defects. Then Kun-Hee destroyed them in front of all present employees to acknowledge how much quality is important. Samsung integrates semiconductors, household appliances, and communication. In today's time, Samsung is expanded into so many subsidiaries. I was shocked when I came up with this like they have their military department and construction company.

When I was researching the company, I got to know about more subsidiaries every minute or two. So I search and found Samsung has 80 subsidiaries. You guys will not believe that the number of employees in Samsung is the number of an employee of Coca-Cola and google and some more together, around 287,440. Samsung Techwin(now known as Hanwha Techwin) is Samsung's military branch which was billed as promoting peace and stability it operates in South Korea. In 2015 Samsung Techwin sold to the Hanwha group. Samsungs C&T Corporation (construction and trading), this subsidiary focus on construction, civil project, fashion, and trading. Some of the company's notable work is the world's biggest building in 2021, Burj Khalifa, Malaysia's Petronas tower, and Mersey gateway bridge in the United Kingdom. In the fourth quarter of 2020, Samsung electronics' mobile department brought $19.8 billion. In brand value, Samsung electronic ranks 8th with $62.3 billion and ranks 5th in Interbrand ranking. Harman is one of the most successful audio electronic companies. Harman's headquarters is based in Stamford, US. S On 10th March 2017, Samsung bought Harman, and after a year, Harman associate with Samsung SmartThings.Samsung's SmarThing is an application that will control your home's electronics products wirelessly. Which operate both on Android and IOS. It is part of the Samsung IoT project. Samsung is a leading company in South Korea and played a major role in building a nation. Samsung has an insurance company too. With the help of its subsidiaries, Samsung is building its ecosystem.

Samsung vs. Apple and Sony
During the company's initial year under the leadership of Byung-Chul, In the western world company was not much reliable to the customer, so sales were not that good. Sony is a Japanese electronic company that gained popularity in the late 20th century because of the revolutionary idea of the walkman. Sony and Samsung both come from the same part of the globe(East Asia). In 1993, the company changed its leadership because one of the two founders pass away, and the other left the company's leadership long ago. After this, the graph of sony's profit decreased. Now the only profitable product of sony electronics is PlayStation. Sony also has a film production company. One of our favorite superheroes is owned by sony picture(Can you guess his name). Despite the rivalry, Samsung and Apple have an old alliance. Steve Jobs, 27 years before the invention of the iPad, had joined hands with Samsung to create a tablet computer. Later the 2 companies revived the old alliance in 2005 when Samsung Electronics visited Jobs with its new NAND non-volatile storage chips and have become the sole memory provider for the iPod. The South Korean firm has since become a competitor to Apple also as a supplier. Also, every iPhone is a flagship product from apple. The screen used is the same as in the flagship product of Samsung. After the 2nd foundation company started to look into quality rather than quantity. Therefore the company is on the verge. One of the reasons Samsung is this mush big is its mobile department.

Founded back in 1969 as Samsung Electric Industries, Suwon, South Korea-headquartered Samsung Electronics today makes everything from televisions to semiconductors. It released its first Android smartphone in 2009 and may be credited with the launch of the primary Android tablet back in 2010. the corporate is among the most important players within the smartphone market within the world. One of the most successful divisions of the Samsung group is the Mobile department. Samsung plays a major role in Asia's 4th biggest economy. Samsung has such a wide range of categories in mobiles, from flagship to low-budget mobiles. So the customer of the company doesn't belong to a certain class by which they get a chance to improve. Samsung's mobile department comes under Samsung electronics.Samsung has 3 CEO Ki Nam Kim, Hyun Suk Kim and Dong Jin Koh.In January 2020, Dong stepped down as CEO and became Co-CEO leading the Mobile department. It's recently developed smartphones running Tizen OS as an alternative to its Android-based smartphones. Samsung's latest mobile launch is that the Galaxy Xcover 5. The smartphone was launched on 4th March 2021 (expected). The phone comes with a 5.30-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1480 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 is powered by an octa-core Samsung Exynos 850 processor, and it comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 64GB of internal storage. The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5 may be a dual SIM smartphone that accepts. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and USB Type-C. Sensors on the phone include Face unlock, Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, and Gyroscope.

As said earlier, Samsung has so many subsidiaries and has more than 250,000 employees. It is situated 30 km outside of the capital city of South Korea, Seoul. It is not a city technically, but about 390 acres of office space will not suit. It consists of 4 landmark office towers, each of 38 floors and 131 small buildings. It is not clear how much money is used to build the city, but experts say around $ 1 Billion and no count of how much cost is in maintaining the city. The campus has a garden that is 5G equipped and has IoT. The campus also has a cafeteria where employees eat for free, a gym, and international food chains like Dunkin Donuts. The company takes full responsibility for keeping employees entertained and motivated by organizing events on campus. The campus is also equipped with a smart museum that is open to common people.
